This is the first time I actually did the art before I chose the show - the fractal I mean. I've been screwing around with some new formulas and kaleidoscoping them, and, well here is the result. I finished this pattern and immediately Dream Bowl came to mind. Not sure exactly why, but I just went with it. I threw the show on, did the tray and I think it works really well.

As far as this show goes - what can I say about this beast that hasnt been said before. Its fucking ferocious, no holds barred scorched earth type of shit. Ive never actually officially written this one up, but I think I can sum it up pretty well - HUGE show, small package. By far the best 11 out there imo and the show is second only to 2/28 for the year on my list. I mean, it was only a week out from the Fillmore run, and they were absolutely on fire. This is one rocket fueled dominating performance, unforgiving and relentless.... Give it up for this one! Cheers!

Tim this is killer work, I just love that shot of Pig. This to me is one of the best shows of '69, it easily holds its own with the night after. The Dark Star is intense and beautiful all at once, and this version of The Eleven has grown to become what is probably my favorite performance of the song - a tall order since there are so many fucking epic versions of the song in Feb. '69 alone. Anyways, grate work again man and what an amazing show!

I don't know for certain, but it has always summed the song up perfectly for me. Like punctuation.

I don't know what the actual meaning of the song is, but to me it is about people bitching, and I think that is what Phil is keying on. I was not old enough to completely grasp it at the time, but I think the Boys were just tired of all the politics of the day. I know that is how it was in my household. Jer said - that was the worst part of the 60s. I think this was their reaction to that.

Awesome work for a peak era show SB. I remember getting the tape when they got sprung, & we were all in awe.

Really like this fractal, as well as that pic of Pig. Never seen that one before. And what a perfect show to do this artwork for. The Eleven of all Elevens. Note for note, I find 3/28/69 to be the best version, but this one reaches heights that no other rendition comes close to. I'll never get tired of hearing it, or this show.

Much appreciated Deniro...The date on this pic of Ron is 1/10/69 - I have no idea where I even got it to be honest. I think I snagged it off of LL.

So, 3/28 huh....Gonna have to check that one out again soon. Been quite a while since I have revisited Modesto.

I agree about this show, amongst the best of the best imo. Like I said, I only put 2/28 above it for the year....That's just me though..

My bad. I meant 2/28. 3/28 is nowhere near the greatest Eleven. And if you're in the mood for the most ferocious, intense Elevens, I always turn to 12/29/68 and 10/20/68. Another 2 of my favorites. Though I find the '69 versions to be the most consistently well played. DP16 might be my 2nd favorite version, at least at this moment. I'm sure you're familiar with all these versions already, but I'd also like to mention 10/25/69, as an under appreciated Eleven IMO. Phil is all over this one, which makes it really stand out for me. Always a good listen:

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I think Phil screams that shit cause he is fucking killling it, and probably dosed too. Who the freak knows - just great to speculate. Im sure that place was electrified. Sure as hell sounds like it.
